Key Club Winter Service Activities
The Key Club finished the fall semester with a Winter Gathering in Mr. Parauka’s room at which students brought food items to share. The hit of the event was homemade birthday cake ice cream. As the members ate they wrapped about sixty pairs of socks and gloves that students donated for the Thompson Homeless Center in New Orleans. The week before students wrapped over one hundred gifts donated by the members for homeless teenage girls at the K-bar-B Ranch in Slidell. The members also created over one hundred cards for military personnel who have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan and are receiving care at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. The cards were part of a joint Kiwanis Club of New Orleans project. Plans for the spring club elections and a spring King Cake Party were discussed.
