Students Volunteer at the Nature Center

Saturday, October 4th, Dr. Gubala’s Green Society and Ms. Davis-Wheeler’s Environmental Science students participated in the Audubon Nature Center Environmental Restoration Day.  The Nature Center suffered extreme damage due to Hurricane Katrina and has still received no assistance from FEMA to restore the property.  Volunteers removed invasive species that have moved into the area and began replanting the native species that thrived in the area before being destroyed by salt water and floods.

The Nature Center is having another volunteer day Saturday, October 25th. If you would be interested in volunteering, please see Dr. Gubala in room #301 or call 286-2600.
