Library Update
Our Ben Franklin Library Media Center, which has been under construction since Hurricane Katrina, is closer than ever to completion. We will soon be able to provide full library services to our Franklin Community of learners. We have just upgraded our library management software program from CircPlus to Destiny and have put it on our new server. One important feature of the program is that our Online Catalog can be accessed through a web browser. The librarian has added the link in our library portal in Blackboard. Students can search the Online Catalog from the link in Blackboard. Of course, our users can search from all computers within the school. Whenever a search is done, in many instances, our new management system will take the user through its Web Path Express feature, to educationally tested web links to specific topics. When available, the links are displayed at the end of our catalog entries.
Our library collection consists of over 10,500 resources which includes current books, AV resources, equipment and technological tools needed to assist in providing quality library media services. Our furniture and shelves have been ordered and we anxiously anticipate their arrival.
We will provide updates in the coming weeks and hope to be in our library soon.
