BFHS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week in a BIG Way
Red Ribbon Week is an event celebrated annually by children and adults all over the country. Participants wear red ribbons, take pledges, and participate in activities that show that they are committed to leading a drug-free lifestyle. This year Franklin will celebrate Red Ribbon Week to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use/abuse, to symbolize our commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and school/work environment, and to celebrate and encourage the students who continue to make good choices. The schedule of events is as follows:
Monday, October 27- Friday, October 31, 2008
- Morning announcements, lead by PAT members, will be made emphasizing the origins of Red Ribbon Week and the dangers of drug usage.
- Red silicone bands with the inscription FRANKLIN FALCONS LIVE DRUG FREE will be sold to students for $1.00.
Monday, October 27, 2008
- Peer Assistance Team (PAT) members will distribute red ribbons to each homeroom for teachers and students to wear on their lanyards throughout the week.
- We will kick-off the "Penny War" on Drugs, which is a friendly competition between classes to raise funds for drug prevention programs in memory of Pierce Sharai '07.

- All faculty and students are encouraged to wear red to symbolize the culmination of Red Ribbon Week There will be a celebration in the courtyard during lunch which will include performances by the band, dance team, and cheerleaders, as well as PAT lead student activities and giveaways.
- During this week, Ms. Carolyn Freeman, Director of Prevention Education with Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CADA) will be completing the 6 week program "Too Good for Drugs" that she has facilitated with all of the health classes.
