Academic Games Team Going to Nationals!

Franklin’s Academic Games team recently competed in the New Orleans Academic Games League’s Equations Tournament.

The Junior Division team (9th & 10th graders) defeated Brother Martin High School and Mount Carmel Academy in the final round of competition and is now the CITY CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM! Kevin Wang and Jennifer Tu are the CITY CHAMPIONS after being undefeated in all four rounds. The Senior Division team (11th & 12th graders) placed THIRD. Joseph Koeferl remained undefeated after four rounds, making him the CITY CHAMPION.

Equations was the last of four games the team played this year. Students are ranked based on their scores from all four tournaments; this ranking determines the national tournament qualifiers. In Junior Division, Kevin Wang placed SECOND overall and Jennifer Tu placed THIRD. Joseph Koeferl played very well all year and is the 2010 SENIOR DIVISION CHAMPION for the city of New Orleans!

Joseph Koeferl, Vivian Hoang, Uday Nandipati, Kevin Wang and Jennifer Tu will be representing Ben Franklin High School at the Academic Games Leagues of America’s National Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio in late April.
