Franklin Students To Visit China in June 2011

In January Benjamin Franklin High School was host to 5 visitors from the high school affiliated with Beijing Normal University. The principal of the Beijing High School , Liu Hu, and the principal of Benjamin Franklin High School, Dr. Timothyy Rusnak, signed an agreement to establish an educational partnership. The partnership may involve an exchange of students, teachers, and administrators between schools. The goal is to expand the teachers and students international view and promote the development of international educational cooperation.

A group of Franklin students will visit its partner school in Beijing in June. They will learn the Chinese language and culture by being immersed in the native culture. In preparation for the trip the students will read books, search the internet, view travel films and documentaries, and write about what they expect to learn on their trip. While in Beijing students will expand their knowledge of the Chinese language and culture by taking classes, touring museums and histroical sites both in Beijing and Chengde.
