Invisible Children Club Holds Fundraiser to Help School in Uganda

Ben Franklin High School's Invisible Children Club has a partner school in Uganda called Pabbo Secondary. This school is currently being rebuilt from the war and serves as a safe haven for learning and counseling for the students affected by the war in Uganda. Pabbo Secondary is currently working on building a new science lab and needs funds for the completion of the lab, including water and gas plumbing, new desks, fully stocked shelves, and the rebuilding of the library.

The club is holding a fundraiser called Penny Wars from 11/15-11/19:

  • Each grade is trying to get as many points as possible. 1 penny = 1 point
  • Each grade's jar will be located in the foyer of the school. If any other monetary value (quarters, paper bills, etc.) is placed in the jar, points are deducted from their overall score.
Ex.: If the sophomores have 300 points, and the juniors place a $1 bill into the sophomores jar, $1=100 points, so the sophomores would now have 200 points.
  • The grade with the most points will be declared the winner.

The goal is to raise at least $1000! If each student donates at least $2, not only will we reach our goal, but that student's grade will have a better chance of winning the challenge! We are inviting everyone to participate; teachers can help their homeroom grades, too!

The winning grade will be announced during a concert in the courtyard at lunch!
