"Mardi Gras Act Responsibly" Campaign Receives Grant

Traffic Crashes remain the leading killer of teens in the U.S.  Project Ignition is a national competition that involves students in high schools across the nation in local safe driving education campaigns.  Each fall, after campaign proposals are submitted, the ‘top 25’ proposals are awarded $2000 grants to fund their education campaign locally. Campaign proposals are scored on aspects such as creativity, focus, cohesive plan, and message. This year, Benjamin Franklin HS is one of 3 schools in Louisiana, and one of 25 schools nationwide, receiving a grant. Other Louisiana winners are: Grambling Lab HS and Ponchatoula HS.

The BFHS student-led project, sponsored by Ms. Tanya Jones, is called the ‘Mardi Gras Act Responsibly’ Campaign, and focuses on reinforcing healthy lifestyle choices and good decision making when it comes to teen driver safety issues.
