On May 22, as a part of Career Connect 2012, rising senior students signed up to shadow various professionals at their jobs. The purpose of this program was to help students broaden their understanding of potential career options. Students spent a half-day at a company that reflected their career interest and had the chance to interact one-on-one with practitioners, learn how to prepare for a career path in that field, and even work on a sample project to develop a basic understanding of the job. Students visited a variety of sites including Fox8 News, LSPCA, LSU Medical Center, Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans DA’s Office, UNO, Gallo Mechanical Engineering jobsite and local elementary schools. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts for this event. This program was sponsored by the Ben Franklin Alumni Association.
Thanks to our amazing volunteers: Katie Barrios '01 and her sister Kristin, Greg Phillips '94, Michael Burt '07, Sarah Hoffmann Lindsey '95, Heidi Charters '75, Loretta Lambert '92, Laurie Darling '95, Leo Happel (husband of alum Bonnie Happel '62) and Franklin parent Stephanie Phillips. Special thanks to Mimi Tsai '03 and Natalie Sciortino Rinehart '01 for organizing the program!
