French Club
Le Cercle Français

The purpose of the French Club is to explore French culture and to support school functions while forging friendships. Whether it is through service, cuisine, culture, or language, the French Club finds a special way to learn about and experience the French culture.
The purpose of this organization is also to provide students with an exposure to French culture and language, and to explore French customs, art and history.
The French Club will also create a French School Magazine.
All students are welcome. Most members do take French but it is not required.

Here is a list of topics you may use for the new French Magazine :
- sports: How is it possible to combine sports and school activities? Focus on the good effects and the negative impacts, as well as some suggestions to overcome some issues related to combining sports and school activities.
- fashion: Explain how fashion in New Orleans may be attractive for some people who need to know cultural facts in Louisiana.
- food: Explain how the food in New Orleans may be a symbol of cultural identity.
- lifestyle: Explain the students' way of life at Benjamin Franklin High School.
- local & international news: Focus on what we may consider the "breaking news" in New Orleans, in USA, and some French speaking counties.
- technology (ipods etc); Explain how technology devices may impact positively and negatively for high school students or young people in general
- make-up: Explain how make-up in New Orleans may be a symbol of cultural identity.

Also:
(1) News Briefs--the classroom news, and Francophone world news as presented by the students;
(2) Reflection Pieces--a short collection of comments by students from either class with questions to make the reader think (for example, "What possessions are necessary to live?", "How do schedules in France compare to schedules in the US?");
(3) Dossier--the central feature (students may write about what recently happen in France or in any French speaking countries);
(4) Creations--a collection of class writings;
(5) Mail from Readers readers' comments.
