Description
The Young Pianists’ Club is a Ben Franklin organization devoted to connecting students with the same interest – piano – and providing opportunities for them to improve and perform. Through regular meetings and recitals throughout the school year, the Young Pianists’ Club helps students learn the art of performance, find peers willing to tutor, and exchange creative ideas.
Weekly meetings during the lunch hour act as “student-oriented master classes,” informal performances followed by constructive comments from a student audience. The club utilizes the school auditorium’s grand pianos for these meetings and the orchestra room’s three practice rooms for additional tutoring. Periodic recitals featuring participating students are held to raise money for tuning and improving the pianos, charity organizations, band/orchestra, or club necessities, such as books and CDs.
The organization has five officers: (1) the President, who moderates meetings and coordinates all activities, (2) the Vice President, who coordinates events with the school administration, (3) the Secretary, who organizes club documents and history, (4) the Treasurer, who manages financial affairs, and (5) the Public Relations officer, who publicizes and attracts members to the club. The officers are not limited to these roles.
It is basic to this vision that the Young Pianists’ Club continually holds concerts and expands its network of members, thereby offering any student the opportunity to benefit from its activities.
