Uptown Bus Info
Application - Uptown Franklin
Parents, Inc. (UFP) is a non-profit corporation formed to contract with
a private bus service for Franklin students living uptown. The charges
for the 2008-09 school year will be $740 (plus a one-time charge of $15
for new riders).
Service
boundaries are as follows: the Orleans Parish line to Palmetto to
Washington Ave. to Martin Luther King Blvd to Melpomene to the river and
back up-river to the parish line. All
potential riders must live within these boundaries. Bus
routes are revised each year to best serve the students riding that
year. Ideally, stops will be within a few blocks of each rider's home,
however because of time and bus route constraints, some riders may be
required to walk further distances. UFP reserves final authority in
route determinations. As an example, during the 07-08 school year,
there were 11 morning pick-up spots and 16 afternoon drop-off stops.
New Orleans East Bus Info
The N. O. East bus service is a non-profit organization formed to contract with
a private bus company for Franklin students living in N. O. East.
The N.O.
East bus will pick students up at a specific location
(to be determined) in the morning. In the afternoon, there are 5-6
drops, one of which will be the initial pick up spot each morning.
NOCCA
NOCCA provides a
free bus from BFHS to the NOCCA school location each school day for BFHS
students who attend the afternoon classes proceeding lunch time at BFHS.
RTA
All students at BFHS are
provided the opportunity to use public transportation through the Regional
Transit Authority (RTA) tokens that are paid for by Benjamin Franklin High
School. Each student who would like to use the service must fill out a RTA
request form and have it signed by their parent or guardian. The rider MUST
live a mile or further away from BFHS in order to use this free service.
Requested tokens are delivered to homerooms before the beginning of each month
and students with “as needed” tokens obtain them in the front office once their
form is turned in and approved.
